This vigorous, deciduous species
from the Himalayas will reach up to
30 ft (9 m) or more. It bears prolific,
sweetly perfumed, white to pale pink
flowers with yellow stamens in clusters
in late spring. Fast growing and very
frost hardy, it is ideal for covering
a small shed or wall. ‘Elizabeth’, ‘Rubens’
and ‘Tetrarose’ are all cultivars with
pink flowers, largest in ‘Tetrarose’,
and purple-tinted leaves. Prune hard
