A native of China
and Japan, this herbaceous perennial
species has a sprawling habit or may
climb to about 3 ft (1 m) in height.
The small white flowers, about 1 1/4
in (3 cm) across, are borne in erect
terminal umbels, while the smooth dark
brown seeds have long yellowish tails.
Plant in a protected, part-shaded position.
