This hybrid between Clematis integrifolia and C. ‘Jackmanii’ has flowers that measure 4–6 in (10–15 cm) in diameter with 4 to 6 irregularly waved petals with 3 deeply grooved ribs. The flowers are an intense indigo blue, their stamens forming a yellowish tuft. This hybrid is easily grown but has a rather awkward habit and is best pruned right to the ground each year. It grows to 5–6 ft (1.5–1.8 m).
