These articles are excerpts from the 1920's textbook, A Year in the
Wonderland of Trees, by Hallan Hawksworth and Francis B. Atkinson.
Written from a biological perspective, the book aims at educating kids
on the importance of trees and the environment. Gardening

Garden and Forest
A Journal of Horticulture, Landscape Art, and Forestry (1888-1897) was
the first American journal devoted to horticulture, botany, landscape
design and preservation, national and urban park development, scientific
forestry, and the conservation of forest resources. The journal was
established by Charles Sprague Sargent (1841-1927), the founding
director of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. The Preservation
Reformatting Division used LC preservation specifications to produce
this digital reproduction of all ten volumes, comprising 8,400 pages and
over 1,000 photographs and other illustrations.
Flora Danica Online
Flora Danica is a collection of folio-sized pictures of all wild plants
in Denmark that was compiled between 1761 and 1874. Some 3,000 images
from copper-engraved plates are available. Images are available on
thumbnail images that link to half screen jpgs. This site is provided by
the Danish National Library of Science and Medicine. The drawings and
paintings, from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, are excellent
quality and searchable.

included comes from secondary sources and compilations, which are cited.

Museum of Garden
History The world's first Museum of Garden History is at
the restored church of St Mary-at-Lambeth next to Lambeth Palace, the
London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Just across the Thames
is the Palace of Westminster and the Houses of Parliament and a little
further on, the Tate Gallery. |
